PBR and Compatibility

Your stone in PBR standard
We scan all stones using the PBR (Physically Based Rendering) standard, which generates a set of high-quality bitmaps that capture essential material properties like color, texture, reflectivity, and transparency. Here, you can see a rendered preview that demonstrates the detail and accuracy made possible by PBR.
Captured material properties

Color
Perfectly captured and equalized albedo map without shadows.

Micro structure
Normal map for precise micro structure simulation.

Macro structure
Displacement map for precise macro structure simulation.

Reflectivity
Reflection description with glossiness, roughness and metallic map.

Works in any 3D Software
No matter what 3D software you are using, our materials are prepared in the PBR (Physically Based Rendering) standard, which is a general format for describing materials in all major 3D software.
Key Features
High precision capture technology without the limits

Finest details
Our ultra-high-precision flatbed 3D scanner captures the finest details of any stone, regardless of its size or texture.
Spacious area
The scanner offers a spacious 1.5 x 2.2-meter scanning area, and for larger samples, we can stitch multiple scans together seamlessly.
Load capacity
A load capacity of 500 kg allows scanning heavy samples without limitation.
Accurate transparency capture
The scanning table is equipped with a backlight feature that illuminates scanned stone from behind, enabling precise capture of transparent or translucent areas. We can also create artificial maps simulating translucency for on-site scanned items.

Plank cutouts
This capability allows for highly accurate digital replication of the stone visual properties, capturing fine details of opacity, color gradients, and texture variations influenced by light transmission.
Scanning on-site for heavy samples
For heavy or oversized samples that cannot be transported to our scanning department, we offer on-site scanning services. Our team can visit your location with a mobile scanning setup to capture the material directly on-site, ensuring the same level of precision and color accuracy as in our studio.

Capture accurately colors or recolor samples
For stone surfaces, the perceived color can vary due to the material’s natural physical properties, such as grain structure, density, and light absorption. Our scanning technology is designed to accurately capture these nuances, ensuring faithful digital representations of stone in any lighting or application context.
No postproduction
Our latest technology captures colors with exceptional realism, eliminating the need for any postproduction adjustments.
Colors in sRGB profile
The scanner’s calibrated color profile can be effortlessly converted to an sRGB profile for accurate display on any screen.
Our 3D experts finetune every sample
As you know, materials can often appear different in photos than they do in reality. This discrepancy comes from the complex nature of surfaces, which may include fine textures, subtle color variations, and different levels of gloss or reflectiveness.
Sample reviewing
To ensure the most realistic representation possible, each sample is meticulously reviewed.
Exceptional accuracy
Our 3D artists review and carefully adjust the data to match the original tiles with exceptional accuracy.
Digital Photoshooting
Get rendered previews per each sample
To provide more than just raw PBR data, we include preview mockup images for each stone sample, showcasing how it appears in a 3D environment. If desired, we can also create custom-rendered previews tailored for your website, database, or catalog, ensuring you have ready-to-use visuals that highlight each product’s unique qualities.
Substitute photoshooting with real-like visualizations
We create bespoke, life-like environments to showcase your stones in the most compelling way. Present your materials in any setting, generate hundreds of high-quality images overnight, and eliminate the need for costly on-site photo shoots.
Sample Processing
We are ready for big volumes
We’ve developed industrial-scale capabilities for material storage and scanning, allowing you to send samples in any form.
In-house production
With in-house production of physical sample books, we have both the equipment and skilled team to efficiently handle large volumes.
All up to you
Our process is further enhanced by software solutions that streamline operations, from creating render queues to renaming and zipping data according to your preferred file structure.
How Our Scanning Process Works
We always start with an evaluation of the samples. Send us photos of the materials to be scanned, and based on that, we can provide a time and cost estimate, recommend the appropriate scanning method, and identify samples suitable for recoloring.
Requirements
The specific requirements vary depending on the type and characteristics of the stone sample. Following a visual evaluation, we will advise whether the sample should be scanned in-house or on-site and provide detailed instructions accordingly for each sample type.
Sample description
Send us a list of all scanned items containing the sample name, sample size, and description. We will convert this into our shared online tracking sheet, showing the status at each phase.
Sample delivery
Please send the samples to our scanning department securely packaged to prevent any damage during transit. Upon completion of the scanning process, we can either store or dispose of the samples in accordance with your instructions.
Data output
We will share the link to our cloud when you can find all of your scanned data - if needed we can send the physical samples back to you or dispose them.

FAQ
The maximum scanning area for in-house scanning is 150 x 220 cm. For larger samples we can stitch together multiple scans. For on-site scanning and artificial reconstruction there is no size limit.
For simple surfaces, it takes approximately 1.5 hours, while for more complicated ones, it can take up to 6 hours.
The price range depends on the material type and scanning method. We also offer the option to colorize samples with the same pattern but in different colors. A custom price offer will always be provided based on the material type and your specific requirements.
For each material, you will receive a folder containing PBR maps in resolutions of 4K, 8K, or 16K, and with either 8-bit or 16-bit depth, depending on the material type. Additionally, you will receive a folder with previews of the rendered material. If needed, we can also provide you with the texture size in centimeters.
Yes, you can order a custom mockup. In such cases, we charge for scene setup and each custom render.
